I was prescribed the Synthroid brand from the manufacturer, Abbott Laboratories. I had no idea it was gluten free but my doctor said it was not gluten free and I took two tablets. It is a brand that is in charge of making the thyroid medication T4 and T3. I was given a prescription for Synthroid. It was a month late, so I went to see my insurance provider and they said I could not get a prescription because I was on a gluten free diet. They said I had a heart attack or stroke. I was on the medication for 3 days. My insurance company paid me back about $20. I did not get coverage for my insurance. They said that I should go to a different doctor. So I went to their office and they said I could not get a prescription because I was on a gluten free diet. I took two tablets, the first one was not gluten free. The second one was gluten free. I took it twice, one morning and the next morning, and then I took it again, and it was the same thing. I was taken off the gluten free diet. I do not know if it was caused by the gluten, or if it is just not being absorbed. I think it could have happened after taking the thyroid medication. It was probably a result of an autoimmune condition like Hashimoto's. I also took the medication for a year. It was a year before I was able to see my insurance company because I had not gotten coverage for my insurance. It is not true that thyroid medication is the reason I have not gotten coverage for my insurance.
